How to select the speed ratio of the worm gear box and determine the worm gear box model?

Formula: input torque * speed ratio * efficiency = output torque

• Example: Z45/450 (Moto torque) * 60 (60:1) * 0.3 (unipolar worm gear transmission efficiency) = 8100Nm

•Example: Z45/450 (Moto torque) * 560 (560:1) * 0.28 (bipolar worm gear transmission efficiency) = 70560Nm

• Pay attention to the input and output limit torque, prevent excessive bearing capacity, damage to the reducer gear, consider the modulus and structure of the gear, and the heat treatment process of the material.

How to calculate the valve opening and closing time?

Formula: Worm gear speed ratio ÷ 4 ÷ Moto speed = opening time

• Example: Known worm gear box speed ratio 60:1, customer-provided Moto model Z45/24Rpm (i.e.,Moto torque 450Nm, Moto speed 24 revolutions per minute), 60÷4÷24=0.625 minutes (37.5 seconds)

When the customer gives the time request and valve torque, how to choose the worm gearbox speed ratio and the electric torque?

Formula: Valve Torque ÷ (Time * Moto Speed *X4) ÷ Efficiency = Moto Torque

• Example: It is known that the customer provides a valve torque of 11000Nm, a Moto speed of 24rpm, and the time requirement is to open within 3 minutes.

Speed ratio = time *Moto speed * 4=3*24*4=288:1

11000Nm÷(3*24*4)÷0.28=136Nm

How to know the rim force of the handwheel?

Formula: input torque *2000÷handwheel diameter=handwheel rim force

• Example: Knowing that the diameter of the handwheel is 600mm, the input torque is 108Nm.

108Nm *2000÷600=360N

Note that according to API6D-5.13, the maximum force required to apply off torque or thrust through the handwheel or handle cannot exceed 80lbf (360N). The diameter of the handwheel should not exceed 40in (1065mm), and the spokes should not exceed the circumference of the handwheel.

What does IP68 mean about the worm gear box protection grade?

According to the standard "GB/T 4208-2017"

The first number indicates the level of contact protection and foreign object protection (protection range)

0—no protection.

1—Protect solid exosomes with a diameter of 50mm and larger.

2—Protection against solid exosomes with a diameter of 12.5mm and larger.

3—Protection against solid exosomes with a diameter of 2.5mm and larger.

4—Protection against solid exosomes with a diameter of 1.0mm and larger.

5—Dust protection is impossible to completely prevent dust from entering, but the amount of dust entering will not cause damage to the equipment.

6—The dust seal can completely prevent the intrusion of foreign objects and can completely prevent the ingress of dust.

The second number represents the waterproof protection level (protection range) 0—no protection.

1—Water drops protection Water droplets falling vertically should not cause damage.

2—The water droplets falling vertically should not cause damage when the cabinet is inclined 15 degrees to any side.

3—Protect the sprayed water. The water sprayed at an angle of 60 degrees on both sides of the vertical line shall not cause damage.

4—Protection from splashing water splashing from every direction should not cause damage.

5—Protective spray water the water sprayed from nozzles aiming at the cabinet in every direction should not cause damage.

6—Protection of strong water jets Strong water jets directed at the cabinet from every direction should not cause damage.

7—Protection against short-term immersion When immersed in water for a short time under standard pressure, ensure that no damage is caused by water ingress.

8—Protection Long-term immersion can be immersed in water under specific conditions to ensure that no damage is caused by water ingress.

9 —Protect from spraying high temperature/high pressure water from every direction to ensure that no damage is caused by water ingress.
